LAUGHTON BROS.™
Laughton Bros.™ is our Illinois straight bourbon whiskey, aged at least two years in new charred oak barrels. It is a balanced whiskey, with a core of sweet corn flavor. It has a long finish from malts with hints of tobacco, spice and mint flavors. We offer the whiskey aged for various lengths of time and bottled at different proofs.
THE HISTORY
The Laughton brothers, David and Barnabas (“Barny”), were two young fur traders from Michigan that operated the Portage trading post. They established a very popular tavern along the oxbow of the Des Plaines River in what today is Riverside, Illinois.
THE PROCESS
The mash bill for Laughton Bros.™ is 83% corn with the balance barley malt and rye malt, same as for our Water Tower White Lightning™ unaged corn whiskey, Salt Creek aged corn whiskey, and Bourbon Spring™ young rested Illinois bourbon whiskey. It is fermented and distilled on grain after mashing. The new-make whiskey is traditionally handmade with two distillations in our small copper pot still. After a brief rest, it is aged in full-sized 53 gallon, new, medium-charred oak barrels. We use barrels from the Independent Stave Company of Missouri, to impart flavor and color into this bourbon aged over two years. Then each barrel is individually bottled, with the barrel number handwritten on each label.
THE ENJOYMENT
Laughton Bros.™ is an artisan whiskey that can be enjoyed on its own or in your favorite cocktail. We enjoy it neat or on ice.

THE BARRELS
We use full-size oak barrels, 53 gallons. After aging, we hand bottle each barrel of Laughton Bros.™ individually, and write the barrel number on each label. Since there are flavor variations from barrel to barrel, we provide tasting notes for each of the barrels of Laughton Bros.™:
No. 2 – Second barrel laid down in the distillery. 53 gal. new medium char oak, aged 2 years and 1 month.
